Leesburg, VA – November 10, 2022

The Board of Directors of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Krupinski, PhD, FSIIM, Professor and Vice-Chair of Research at Emory University in the Departments of Radiology, Psychology, and Bioinformatics, will become Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Digital Imaging, JDI.

“SIIM is fortunate to have Dr. Krupinski as JDI’s new Editor in Chief. Her experience and expertise will enable the Journal to continue to advance knowledge and science during these exciting times for imaging informatics in medicine,” said SIIM Board Chair Tessa Cook, MD, PhD, CIIP, FSIIM.

Dr. Krupinski received her BA from Cornell, MA from Montclair State, and PhD from Temple, all in Experimental Psychology. Her interests include medical image perception, observer performance, decision-making, and human factors relating to developing, evaluating, and implementing new technologies and tools to enable clinicians and other medical professionals to render accurate and efficient diagnoses and treatment plans to improve patient care.

For over 30 years, Dr. Krupinski has served as a reviewer for almost 100 peer-reviewed journals, been on many editorial boards for radiology (including JDI), pathology, informatics, and telemedicine journals, and has held prior editor roles. She is a longtime member of SIIM, having served as Chair of the Society (2010–2012) and numerous committees, including R&D, Content & Publications, Awards, College of SIIM Fellows.

“I look forward to building on the success of the prior editors, increasing the international visibility and impact of the journal and SIIM with high quality content, an outstanding Editorial Board, and engaged reviewers,” added Dr. Krupinski. She will bring this wealth of experience to the JDI, effective December 1, 2022.
