Submission Types — Abstracts

Scientific Abstract

For hypothesis-driven, translational, and reproducible research. Structured around a clear question, methods, results, and conclusion. Generally, more suitable for oral presentation. Accepted abstracts are published in JIIM.

Experiential Abstract

For projects describing a new application, workflow, or process — often with limited objective data. Suitable for teams sharing implementation lessons, operational insights, or early findings. Generally, more suitable for poster presentations. Accepted abstracts are published in JIIM.

Abstract Topics

  • Image classification, object detection, and localization
  • Segmentation (including anatomical structures, lesions, and specific applications like radiotherapy planning)
  • Generative Models (GANs, Diffusion Models, VAEs) for data augmentation, synthesis, super-resolution, and anomaly detection
  • Image registration (rigid, non-rigid, cross-modality)
  • Image reconstruction (from raw data, accelerated MRI, low-dose CT, etc.)
  •  Image quality assessment and enhancement

Abstract Format Requirements

All Abstract Submissions

  • Must be original and not previously published.
  • Abstracts that substantially overlap with submissions accepted elsewhere are not eligible.
  • All submissions must be made through the official SIIM-CAIMI26 Submission Portal.
  • This is a blind review process — do not include institution or corporate names within the abstract.
  • Accepted abstracts are published as submitted; no revisions permitted post-acceptance.
  • Word limit: 350 words maximum. Figure/table captions, headings, keywords, and title do not count toward this limit.
  • Figures: Up to three (3) figures and/or tables. Upload via the portal with captions.
  • Links to supplemental materials are permitted, but the abstract must stand alone. Reviewers are not expected to evaluate web-based applications.

CAIMI AI Builder Showcase

What Is the Builder Showcase?

Not every impactful AI idea starts as a polished research paper. The CAIMI AI Builder Showcase is a new submission pathway for early-stage tools, workflows, prototypes, integrations, and practical AI solutions designed to solve real clinical problems.

Whether you built a workflow automation, an LLM-powered tool, a deployment pipeline, a vibe-coded prototype, a clinical integration, or a creative AI solution that deserves community feedback — we want to see it.

Less polish. More innovation. Bring what you’re building.

Ideal for: trainees, developers, clinical informaticists, and anyone who built something that works and wants feedback from the people who’d use it.

VENDOR SUBMISSIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED

Format Requirements

  • Word limit: 500 words maximum. Figure/table captions, headings, keywords, and title do not count toward this limit.
  • Links to live demos, GitHub repositories, and short video walkthroughs are strongly encouraged. Reviewers ARE expected to engage with linked materials.
  • Builder Showcase submissions are not published in JIIM.
  • Vendor Submissions are not allowed.
  • All submissions must be made through the official SIIM-CAIMI26 Submission Portal.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should address the following six sections:

  • Problem Statement — What clinical or operational challenge does this address?
  • Approach / What You Built — Describe the tool, workflow, or solution and how it works.
  • Demo or Evidence of Function — Link to a video, live web app, or GitHub repository strongly encouraged.
  • Clinical or Operational Impact — Who benefits, and how?
  • Current Stage — Concept / Prototype / Deployed (all stages welcome).
  • What Feedback You’re Seeking — What questions do you want the audience to help you answer?
Builder Showcase Presentation Format

Live Demo / MVP Pitch: 10-minute live demo or video walkthrough with Q&A. Available only for Builder Showcase submissions.

Testimonials

“The opening keynote was truly inspiring. CMIMI provides a medium for professional researchers and students alike to share their cutting-edge research in machine learning and radiology, two fields whose intersection is frequently talked about but rarely has experts in. CMIMI is THE conference to go to if you want to meet the best in the field.”
