From Data to Evidence with Research Agents | Hands-on Vibe-coding Workshop

This is not a traditional lecture or software demonstration, it’s a hands-on, build-along workshop. Working in a prepared cloud environment, participants will use coding agents to tackle a connected clinical research workflow, from exploring an unfamiliar data resource and creating an analytic dataset to structured abstraction, model development, evaluation, and reporting.

Using Kiro CLI and Amazon Bedrock, participants will learn by doing: directing an agent, reviewing its plan, inspecting what it creates, testing assumptions, and refining the results. Along the way, participants will build practical research artifacts, including a human-review tool, reproducible analysis, figures, tables, and a short report, and see how the final model output can be carried into a live PaxeraHealth PACS viewing environment.

The emphasis is not on prompt engineering, but on learning how to effectively direct and review AI agents as research collaborators while keeping human judgment, validation, and reproducibility at the center of the process.

Objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Direct coding agents through an end-to-end clinical research workflow by defining goals, context, constraints, and expected outputs.

Create and evaluate reviewable research artifacts, including data-curation workflows, structured LLM abstractions, purpose-built tools, models, and reproducible analysis outputs.

Apply human oversight, validation, and quality checks to identify unsupported assumptions, evaluate agent-generated work, and refine results before carrying model outputs into an imaging workflow.
