The DICOM Image Quality, Networking, and Troubleshooting self-paced course provide an in-depth exploration of advanced concepts in Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). This course is meticulously designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and enhance image quality, understand DICOM encoding techniques, and troubleshoot issues related to image quality and network connectivity. Participants will gain valuable insights into selecting tools for image validation, making informed decisions about compression schemes, and configuring DICOM devices to ensure seamless communication within the network infrastructure.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and select appropriate tools for verification and validation in DICOM imaging, ensuring accurate and reliable image quality assessment.
  • Apply the knowledge of encoding techniques for overlays, text, and annotations in DICOM to effectively enhance and annotate medical images
  • Differentiate between the various compression schemes specified in the DICOM standard, enabling informed decisions regarding image compression and storage.
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot image quality and display issues in DICOM systems, diagnosing and resolving problems to ensure optimal image visualization.
  • Configure DICOM devices with regard to addressing, ensuring proper communication and integration within the network infrastructure, and addressing any connectivity issues that may arise.
