SIIM Honors Top Research and AI Innovation at CAIMI26

Leesburg, VA – October 27, 2026 

The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) has announced the award recipients from CAIMI26, the SIIM Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging. The conference was held October 26–27, 2026, at the University of Pennsylvania’s Smilow Center for Translational Research in Philadelphia. 

CAIMI26 brought together researchers, clinicians, engineers, computer scientists, industry leaders, and trainees to examine the science behind medical imaging AI and what it takes to make that AI work in clinical practice. Co-chaired by Katherine P. Andriole, PhD, FSIIM; Peter D. Chang, MD; and Eliot L. Siegel, MD, FSIIM, the program explored multimodal foundation models, agentic AI, and AI’s real-world value. It also debuted the AI Builder Showcase, a new pathway for working tools and early-stage prototypes that address real clinical problems. 

SIIM recognized the top research poster and oral presentations, the best AI Builder Showcase project, and two recipients of the NextGen Researcher Travel Award. Don Enwerem earned two honors, taking first place for Best Research Abstract and winning the Best AI Builder Showcase award. 

The following awards were presented at CAIMI26:

1st Place – Ritika Agarwal, MSE
