The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) Acquires OTech’s Training Assets

“It is my pleasure to inform you that SIIM has acquired OTech’s training assets” announced Marc D. Kohli, MD, Chair of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) earlier today during the Opening General Session at #SIIM22. “We are truly grateful to Herman Oosterwijk, former owner of OTech, for entrusting his life’s work to SIIM.”

This acquisition, completed in 2021 Q4, provided SIIM with “go to market” courses in PACS, DICOM, HL7, and FHIR, along with the respective Study Guides and eBooks, and a Virtual Hospital Platform (VHP) simulator for hands-on training. Hired to oversee these assets, formerly known as OTech, SIIM’s Director of Training Kori Stewart, Ph.D., R.T.(R)(CT)(ARRT), CIIP reflected “The demand for SIIM training, which includes asynchronous and synchronous online courses, as well as custom training for both academic institutions and corporations, has grown tremendously in my seven (7) months since joining SIIM staff.”

Transitioning these products to SIIM’s technology is being folded into SIIM’s digital strategy. “Our vision is for SIIM training to reside on SIIMU, our Learning Management System (LMS), alongside our other offerings,” added Cheryl Kreider Carey, MBA, SIIM CEO. “The infusion of these newly acquired SIIM training assets into SIIM’s portfolio has already been phenomenal.”
