The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) convened its Annual Meeting at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The Society’s mission focuses on advancing the imaging informatics field by fostering education, research, and innovation.
The SIIM Annual Meeting is where the enterprise imaging community comes together to recognize the achievements of its diverse membership. The following awards and prizes were presented during this year’s Annual Meeting.
College of SIIM Fellows – New Inductees

These exceptional individuals were recognized for their outstanding achievements and talents on June 28. Their induction showcases the highest standards of excellence within SIIM.
The Samuel J. Dwyer Lectureship
The 2024 Dwyer Lecture, Imaging Informatics: Designing and Managing Medical Imaging Learning Systems, was awarded to J. Raym Geis, MD, FSIIM, Adjunct Associate Professor of Radiology, National Jewish Health, Denver, Colorado.
The Annual Dwyer Lecture features a SIIM Fellow as the presenter of a particularly relevant and insightful topic in honor of Samuel J. Dwyer III, PhD – the humble, prolific pioneer of digital medical imaging.
Honorary Awards
Individual achievements were recognized in the field of medical imaging informatics through the following Honorary Awards:
The Gold Medal of the Society Award
Presented to Teri M. Sippel Schmidt, MS, FSIIM, Marquette University + The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Awarded annually in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in research or implementation of imaging informatics applications.
The Dr. Joe Gitlin Award
Presented to Kevin O’Donnell, MASc, FSIIM, Canon Medical Research, USA, Inc.
Awarded annually in recognition of outstanding lifetime contributions to the field of imaging informatics through the development of innovative, high-impact solutions.
The Dr. Ruth Dayhoff Award for the Advancement of Women in Medical Imaging Informatics
Presented to Sylvia Devlin, MS, RT(R)(M)(QM), CIIP, FSIIM, Radiology Partners.
Awarded annually in recognition of outstanding contributions to imaging informatics by a woman or presented to a woman dedicated to advancing and promoting women in imaging informatics.
The Imaging Informatics Innovator Award
Presented to Pallavi Tiwari, PhD, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Josh Duncan, MBA, Rad AI.
Presented annually for extraordinary achievements in informatics technology development that show strong promise or potential impact in Imaging or medicine.
The Early Career Achievement Award
Presented to Tom O’Sullivan, Radiological Society of North America, and Yuankai Huo, PhD, Vanderbilt University.
Presented in recognition of significant and innovative technical contributions in imaging informatics to someone whose highest earned degree has been awarded within 10 years of the date of nomination.
The Educator Award
Presented to the Hackathon Founding Team: Don Dennison, CIIP, FSIIM, Don K. Dennison Solutions Inc., Brad Genereaux, NVIDIA, Mohannad Hussain, CIIP, Techie Maestro, Marc Kohli, MD, FSIIM, University of California, San Francisco, and Chris Meenan, CIIP, FSIIM, Blackford.
Given annually in recognition of outstanding contributions to imaging informatics education by a SIIM instructor or educator in the field.

Advanced Analytics Tools Guide Clinical MRI Protocol Optimization and Quantify Value
Awarded for the best student paper and named to honor Dr. Bauman’s distinguished career in radiological informatics research and practice and his status as Founding Editor of Journal of Digital Imaging, now the Journal of Imaging Informatics in Medicine.
The Helen and Paul Chang Foundation New Investigator Travel Awards
