I had the great honor of representing SIIM Board of Directors at the annual ABII Board of Trustee Strategic Planning meeting in beautiful St. Paul Minnesota. The venue was held at the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Headquarters, which for someone who has been a registered Radiology Technologist for over 30 years, was extra special.

The meeting came to order promptly at 8:30 in the Roentgen Auditorium, where pictures of Wilhelm Roentgen hung throughout along with historical factoids of his important discoveries related medical imaging.  The ABII Board were fantastic hosts and provided a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. When I shared some of our recent accomplishments, membership outreach efforts, and commitment to growing certification internationally, our ABII colleagues offered their support in these efforts.

During our break, our ABII colleagues and I were taken on a tour of the ARRT and enjoyed viewing numerous historical radiologic artifacts from our imaging pioneers such as the Crookes tube and the Coolidge cathode vacuum tube. I have no doubt that our radiologic pioneers would be blown away by our advancements in medical imaging.

After the meeting, some of our ABII colleagues sent me off with a fond farewell.  Our mutual good faith partnership and commitment toward the progress of imaging informatics is well established and continues to grow.
