This course offers a deep dive into the complexities of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) in modern healthcare environments. Designed for experienced PACS professionals, this program provides advanced insights into clinical workflows, database management, integrated clinical systems, and enterprise imaging strategies. Participants will explore practical applications, such as authentication, worklists, query optimization, and workflow orchestration, as well as advanced topics like governance frameworks, tiered support structures, and enterprise system management. Through real-world scenarios and case studies, attendees will learn how to enhance operational efficiency, improve clinical outcomes, and drive innovation in imaging informatics.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Analyze and optimize clinical workflows by understanding clinical discovery processes and their significance
  • Enhance system performance and reliability by learning to implement strategies for information lifecycle management (ILM), including purging, routing, and prefetching
  • Integrate and manage clinical systems through the integration of advanced visualization tools, orthopedic templating, cardiology reporting, and AI
  • Gain deep understanding of Shared Enterprise Systems by designing custom workflows and augmenting local services through simulation-based learning and training

Format/Class Structure

This 2-day, advanced training will be delivered virtual live through Zoom on October 6th and 7th. Training on both days will start at 4:00pm and end at 9:00pm ET. There will be short breaks every hour, including a longer 30-minute break approximately halfway through each day.

Who Should Take This Course

This course is tailored for:

  • PACS Administrators and Managers looking to deepen their technical expertise and drive enterprise-level imaging solutions
  • Healthcare IT Professionals involved in imaging informatics and system integration
  • Radiology and Clinical Workflow Specialists aiming to optimize operational efficiencies and clinical outcomes
  • Enterprise Imaging Team Members focused on governance, tiered support, and system management

Prerequisites

This course is designed for professionals with a solid foundation in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and at demonstrated experience in a PACS-related role, such as administration or imaging informatics. Participants should have a working knowledge of clinical workflows, database management, and system configurations, as well as familiarity with integrating PACS into broader healthcare IT environments. Exposure to advanced imaging systems, such as EMRs or AI tools, is beneficial but not required.
