The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM), is an organization with the goal of advancing the practice of physics in medicine and biology. Among other topics, AAPM is concerned with medical physics, radiation oncology, imaging physics, health physics, hospital physics, medical radiation, physics careers, ionizing radiation, brachytherapy, and diagnostic imaging. The AAPM is engaged in specifying image quality and radiation standards. TG18 has developed a comprehensive test specification to evaluate displays, including several clinical and synthetic test images. Their TG18-QC test pattern is commonly used as a replacement for the SMPTE test pattern. The AAPM home page is http://www.aapm.org.
