In DICOM, the Radiotherapy (RT) Dose object addresses the requirements for transferring dose distributions calculated by radiation therapy treatment planning systems.

Dose distributions in an RT Dose object may be presented as two- or three-dimensional grids, isodose curves, or as named or unnamed dose points. Dose-volume histogram data, single or multi-frame overlays and application-defined lookup tables may also be present.
