Telemedicine is a catch-all term describing the application or delivery of health care over a distance using some form of communications technology such as a telephone, a video conferencing system or a WAN (such as the Internet). Telemedicine is often discussed in the context of a particular medical specialty such as teleradiology or telecardiology.
