What is your current imaging informaticist role?
Imaging Informatics Consultant.
What is your SIIM Persona?
Vendor.
Indicate what SIIM volunteer role(s) you serve in, if any.
I am currently on the NIIC Subcommittee and am on the Editorial Board of JIIM. I spent 7 years on the Program Committee & did 2 three-year terms on the Board.
What do you love most about imaging informatics?
It is a complex field with always new things to learn and can have a real impact on the lives of patients & providers. The community is very collaborative.
If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose?
Tough one. I’ll go with Bill Murray. Not sure what I would learn, but we’d have a lot of laughs.
What one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last month?
Pretty esoteric, but I have been learning about the ways in which EMR systems internally represent & label different types of patient identifiers, how they can provide them through HL7 ADT messages, and common PACS data schemas for managing imaging records associated with the variety of patient IDs.
How do you define success?
Accomplishing meaningful goals on your own terms without compromising integrity.
What’s the last book you read or TV series you binged?
I don’t really read books, watch TV, or listen to podcasts, or watch online videos, or go on social media. In general, I try to consume as little media as possible. The most recent series I did watch though was Three Body Problem.
People love the networking at SIIM. Do you have a networking/mentor story?
Nothing specific, but I do enjoy the social and community aspects of SIIM.
