What is your current imaging informaticist role?

Solutions Specialist, Sectra, Vice-Chair of the Membership Committee, SIIM, Member of the DEI Committee, SIIM, Member of the CIIP Exam Committee, ABII.

What do you love most about imaging informatics?

I love that imaging informatics allows us to make patient care more efficient. Helping people is the main reason I went into healthcare.

If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose?

Michael Gray-Wheeler and Ameena Elahi are current mentors for me, and I chose them. They are both extremely knowledgeable and have helped to guide me during my career.

What one thing, either industry-related or not, did you learn in the last month?

I learned that you don’t have to switch keyboards on an iPhone by pressing 123 or ABC. You can just press and slide to select what you want while keeping the existing keyboard you’re using. Who knew?!

How do you define success?

I believe success is making a difference at any level. We may never solve every issue in the world but if we can make it better in any way, we will have succeeded.

What’s the last book you read or TV series you binged?

I just binged “Hijack”. Wow! What a ride…literally. I usually don’t like high action thrillers, but my interest in flying baited me. It was actually a very good series.

People love the networking at SIIM. Do you have a networking story?

I have had 2 instances when at a SIIM function, I was reconnected with colleagues that I haven’t seen in years. One of those people I hadn’t seen in 20+ years and my first SIIM in-person meeting, there he was! The SIIM community is special and close-knit. I’m glad to be a part of it.
