Upon entering the SIIMfund 2024 event, the ambiance was warm and inviting coupled with the buzz of excitement, as we mingled, shared stories, and previewed the items up for bid. The auction featured an eclectic mix of SIIM learning opportunities, mentor and consultant time, technology, travel experiences, and a bobblehead featuring Raym Geis, MD, FSIIM, the SIIM 2024 Samuel J. Dwyer lecture speaker. The items sparked conversations among attendees and set the stage for bidding yet to come.

As the auctioneer, Richard Wiggins, MD, FSIIM, took the stage, the energy in the atrium shifted to one of anticipation. The auction itself was a lively affair, filled with competitive bids and generosity as Dr. Wiggins’ voice echoed throughout the hall. His voice brought enthusiasm and charm, engaging the crowd with wit and expertise. The bidding wars were coupled with friendly competition. Every bid was a pledge of support for SIIMfund Philanthropy. Each sale a SIIMfund contribution going towards the development of informatics tools and our young imaging informatics scholars. SIIMfund promotes research and scholarships that aims at expanding outreach globally through specific programs for promising next generation imaging informaticists.

Throughout the evening, candid moments of generosity and camaraderie were abundantly seen. The interactions were a reminder that SIIM Philanthropy is as much about community as it is about financial giving. When observing the attendees, it was clear that SIIM Philanthropy is about promoting knowledge, innovation, fostering the growth and advancement of our future imaging informatics generation.

As the final bids were placed and the evening drew to a close, there was a strong sense of accomplishment in the air. The SIIMfund 2024 Silent Auction was not just about raising funds, it was about coming together as a community to support a cause greater than ourselves. Through the lens of our camera, we hope to have captured not just the fun, but the beauty of the human spirit that made this evening so special.
