The DICOM Certification (CDIP) Package is a specialized self-study program designed to prepare individuals for the challenges presented by the PARCA CDIP exam. This comprehensive package encompasses four distinct self-study courses—DICOM Introduction, Data Formats and Protocol; DICOM Services, Commands and Conformance; DICOM Workflow Management and Structured Reports; and DICOM Image Quality, Networking and Troubleshooting. Tailored to provide an in-depth understanding of the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard, this package equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to excel in the dynamic field of medical imaging informatics.

Learning Objectives 

By the end of this course, students will be able to: 

  • Analyze and interpret the fundamental concepts of DICOM, including data formats, protocol, services, commands, and conformance requirements. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in DICOM workflow management, showcasing the ability to navigate and optimize structured reports for efficient medical imaging processes. 
  • Evaluate and ensure the quality of DICOM images, networking configurations, and troubleshoot issues, demonstrating practical skills in maintaining the integrity of medical imaging data. 
  • Apply the principles outlined in the DICOM standard to facilitate seamless communication and interoperability within the medical imaging informatics domain. 

Format/Class Structure 

This package contains three self-paced courses, accessible completely online. You can expect to spend about 16 hours completing this course.

CE Credit

The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine has approved this activity for 16.0 hours of SIIM IIP Credits towards certification and re-certification by the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII).
