Radiologic technologists (R.T.s) are uniquely positioned at the intersection of patient care, image acquisition, and imaging informatics. In this session, we explore how R.T.s, especially those certified or seeking certification in informatics, serve as vital collaborators and advocates in the integration of emerging technologies like AI. Using the theme “Help Me Help You,” we’ll highlight how R.T.s can bridge communication gaps between patients, radiologists, IT professionals, and vendors to enhance diagnostic quality and workflow efficiency.

Attendees will gain insight into the R.T.’s complex role, the impact of AI on technologist workflows, and how interdisciplinary collaboration can drive better outcomes. Through real-world examples and a call to action, this session will challenge assumptions and offer practical strategies for engaging R.T.s in informatics initiatives. A 15-minute interactive Q&A will follow to foster dialogue and shared learning.

Objectives

  • Describe the multifaceted role of radiologic technologists (R.T.s) in imaging informatics and their impact on diagnostic quality and patient care.
  • Explain how R.T.s serve as a communication and workflow bridge between patients, radiologists, IT professionals, and vendors.
  • Identify opportunities for R.T.s to contribute to the development, validation, and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in medical imaging.
  • Recognize the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in optimizing imaging workflows and integrating emerging technologies.
  • Apply strategies to engage R.T.s in informatics initiatives and foster mutual understanding across clinical and technical teams.
