This talk will cover little-known facts and concepts, from the prevalence of open source software (spoiler: it is everywhere and you use it a lot more often than you know) to the advantages of open source at multiple levels from the preservation of the environment to medical imaging advancement.

- Understand what open source actually means and how almost all software used today incorporates open-source in one way or another
- Shine a light on the tremendous support open source enjoys from grass-roots to multi-billion dollar software giants
- Explore benefits of open source across domains from healthcare to everything else under the sun.

SIIM has approved this activity for 1.0 hours of SIIM IIP Credits towards certification and re-certification by the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII).
